Diane Ames, RN, MSN, APNP-BC, CCAP
Diane
Ames is a family nurse practitioner in the Complementary Medicine
Division of Aurora Health Care in Milwaukee, WI. She
brings over 20 years of clinical experience blending conventional
and holistic approaches to patient care. Diane worked in
an integrative clinic which included acupuncture, massage,
chiropractic, and family practice services along with a wellness
store. Currently, Diane integrates essential oils and dietary
supplements into her clinic practice at Aurora Medical Group-River
Center, Concordia University Student Health Center, and her
own private practice.
Additionally, Diane provides clinical essential oil consults
and treatment to nursing homes, hospice, and hospitals. Most
recently, she contracted with a nursing home to develop a
program to utilize essential oils in a clinical environment.
Her clinical aromatherapy project utilized nebulized Lavandula
angustifolia within an Alzheimer’s population.
Diane is also an adjunct professor in the nurse practitioner
program for Concordia University of Wisconsin. She has been
a guest lecturer at numerous higher educational institutions,
conferences, and seminars aimed at physicians and residents.
She has been interviewed for local newspapers and nursing
magazines.
Her educational background includes a bachelor’s degree
in social work from UW-Eau Claire, an ADN from MATC-Madison,
BSN from Alverno College, and MSN/FNP from UW-Oshkosh. Diane
is certified by the ANCC and has prescriptive authority in
Wisconsin. She is the Medical Advisor for the MA program
at Bryant Stratton College, and a member of the American
Holistic Nurses Association.
Diane completed her CCAP in 2003 and became an R J Buckle
certified instructor in 2005 for Clinical Aromatherapy and
the “m” Technique®. She is willing
to travel including internationally.
