Debbie Quate LPN, CCAP

Having been a nurse for 30 years, Debbie has dedicated the last 9 years working with Alzheimer patients. In 1999 she received her first aromatherapy certification from the Pacific Institute of Aromatherapy. With the support of The Corinne Dolan Alzheimer Center at UHHS-Heather Hill Hospital & Health Partnership she began to incorporate aromatherapy into the care of her patients. Aromatherapy proved to be of great value to her Alzheimer patients as well as their caregivers.

Debbie successfully completed Jane Buckle's Clinical Aromatherapy for Health Professionals course in May of 2002, and became an instructor in February 2003.

She is also a Reiki master and in 2001 took a position as the Integrative Therapies Specialist at UHHS-Heather Hill Hospital & Health Partnership. She provides the Reiki and Aromatherapy treatments for the patients at the hospital as well as in Dementia Services, which includes The Corinne Dolan Alzheimer Center. The aromatherapy treatment she uses most frequently is the 'm' technique to the hands of her Alzheimer patients. When communication becomes difficult, touch and smell are powerful messengers.

Debbie believes that aromatherapy will continue to be integrated into healthcare and wants to be a part of this evolution. She is willing to travel to teach.
