Janet Goin,

Janet is a Registered Nurse, Board Certified in
Gerontological Nursing and was certified in April
2000 to teach RJ Buckle's Clinical Aromatherapy
for Health Professionals and The 'm'
Technique®.
 Janet
started on a nursing path in the early 60's, but
waited to complete her educational choice until her
three children were grown. In 1985 she completed a
rigorous LPN program in Virginia. Upon completion
of the LPN program she enrolled at Southside
Virginia Community College and in 1989 received her
RN degree. She then had the opportunity to attend
Smith College in Northampton, MA as an Ada Comstock
Scholar. Graduating from that program in 1992 with
a BA in Sociology. Janet has completed graduate
level courses at the University of Massachusetts
and Springfield College in the area of Wellness
Promotion/Management.
Janet's nursing experience has included working
in medical/surgical, psychiatric and geriatric
settings. Primary focus and favorite area of
nursing has been working with the geriatric
population.
Janet has a Certificate of Completion in
Holistic Nursing through Seeds and Bridges. She has
studied aromatherapy with Jane Buckle and Susanne
Wissell (Center for Wholistic Botanical Studies).
Other areas of interest and study include
Therapeutic Touch, Chi-Lel QiGong, Vibrational
Aromatherapy, reflexology and herbs. She is a
member of the American Holistic Nurses Association
and the National Association for Holistic
Aromatherapy.
Janet has given presentations at Smith College
on Holistic Nursing. She has worked very closely
with a local nursing home and has been part of
their activity program. The residents have enjoyed
the scents and learning about their uses. Based in
Western Massachusetts, Janet will be team-teaching
Clinical Aromatherapy with Kathy Duffy in the New
England area.
Janet lives in the Northampton, MA area and
works at a large psychiatric hospital as a
utilization management nurse. The geriatric and
children's units at this hospital have shown
interest in learning more about incorporating
aromatherapy. She has also opened a small private
practice incorporating aromatherapy, The 'm'
Technique® and energy work. Janet will
also be a practitioner at a local day spa. Janet is
mom to two daughters and a son and a grandma four
times. Recreational interests include crafts,
quilting, knitting, reading and bike riding (summer
only), snowshoeing and aqua aerobics.
