Janet Sernau,
LPN,
CMT,
CIMI,
CCAP
Janet has been a licensed practical nurse for
over 20 years with a focus
in pediatrics, and extensive experience in a
nursing home and home health care. She is
particularly interested in the effect of touch in
healing. In December of 1996, Janet certified as a
massage practitioner. Her training emphasized the
role of massage in the elderly to reduce muscle
spasm, enhance joint mobility, alleviate depression
and give a nurturing experience.
In October of 1997, Janet became a Certified
Infant Massage Instructor. She teaches infant
massage to caregivers. Since June 2002, Janet has
served as a member of the rehab team at Community
Rehabilitation Center at Community Hospital in
Watervliet, Michigan, helping to develop a hospital
based massage program. Janet also serves as a
member of the Comprehensive Pain Management Program
at the hospital's Outpatient Rehabilitation Center
in Coloma.
In February of 2003, Janet became a
certification R J Buckle instructor to teach
Clinical Aromatherapy and the 'm'
Technique®.
Affiliations:
1) Associated Bodywork and Massage
Professionals, a support group offering up-to-date
information for those committed to career
professionalism.
2) International Association of Infant Massage,
US Chapter, whose mission is to promote nurturing
touch and communication through training,
education, and research, so that parents,
caregivers, and children are loved, valued, and
respected.
3) Day-Break Geriatric Massage Project, taking
age-related health conditions into account for
health impairments that are associated with the
later years of life.
4) Holistic Alliance, a not-for-profit,
tax-exempt corporation, with team networking
dedicated to bringing visibility, accessibility and
respectability to holistic practices.
