Lisa
(Clarice) Baker

CIMI, CMT, NCTMB, CCAP
Lisa
Baker is an occupational therapist, infant massage instructor,
massage therapist, and clinical aromatherapy practitioner.
She has over 30 years of experience of adult and pediatric
hospital-based experience in occupational therapy services,
program development for infant massage instruction and provision
of massage therapy and bodywork services. She has been student
supervisor and educational coordinator for level I and II
occupational therapy students at all of the rehabilitation
and hospital based programs for which she has worked. Her
experience spans from general rehabilitation, school based
programs, home out reach services, comprehensive evaluation
program, and specialty evaluations and treatment in feeding
and swallowing, juvenile rheumatoid arthritis, cerebral palsy,
prematurity, sensory integration disorders, and developmental
disabilities.
Lisa received a bachelor’s
degree in occupational therapy from the University of Wisconsin,
Madison. She completed massage programs at Sister R. Gefre’s
School of Professional Massage and the Minneapolis School
of Massage.
Certifications and training include infant massage instructor,
pre and perinatal massage, therapeutic massage and bodywork,
myofacial massage, and craniosacral therapy. She also has
certifications in neurodevelopmental therapy, sensory integration
therapy, aromatherapy, and Feng Shui. Additional specialty
instruction includes connective tissue massage and cancer
and massage techniques. Lisa has held faculty positions in
massage at Globe College and Northwestern Health Sciences
University as well as continuing education classes in aromatherapy.
In 1999 Lisa implemented the massage therapy program at
Children’s
Hospitals and Clinics in the Twin Cities. This program consisted
of providing infant massage instruction, massage therapy,
and aromatherapy services to inpatients, outpatients, and
employees. She has been part of a feasibility and research
study regarding the efficacy of massage in childhood cancer.
In 2001 Lisa went on to develop the massage and aromatherapy
program at United Hospital in St.Paul. She has been instrumental
in developing aromatherapy research for patients in pre-op
and the Oncology program. Lisa also has a private practice
in integrative therapies.
Lisa has been a presenter at national conferences and various
local groups in regard to establishing a massage program
in a hospital setting and the benefits of massage, therapeutic
massage, aromatherapy, infant massage, and massage and bodywork
with children. She has also presented at national conferences
and local groups on therapeutic massage and aromatherapy
with children, infant massage, and massage and bodywork with
children. She contributed to a pediatric nursing text featuring
the use of massage with patients with cancer. Lisa was also
a participant in the Public Television broadcast of program “Health
Diary” featuring a segment on baby massage.
Lisa became certified in February of 2002 as an Instructor
of courses designed by R.J. Buckle associates, including
Clinical Aromatherapy for Health Professionals and The “m” Technique.
Lisa’s private practice is called Bridges
to Health which reflects in the various modalities she utilizes as
they involve the intermingling of the use of sensory modalities
and their powerful energy to heal on all levels.
