Sara Percival (Dip EASS)

I started out many years ago as a radiographer and after a period of time working in management I began the three years training in Shiatsu in 1998. I have used shiatsu extensively with the treatment and rehabilitation of sports injuries.

Since 2002 I have been Shiatsu practitioner and complementary therapy co-ordinator at a local hospice where I manage an excellent team of volunteer therapists and between us we offer Shiatsu, Massage, Aromatherapy and Reflexology to patients, their carers and staff. I am actively involved in lecturing about the use and validity of complementary therapies in palliative care to a wide audience that includes GP’s and those studying for a BSc in Palliative Care. I am also actively involved with the National Association of Complementary Therapists in Palliative Care (NACTHPC) who look to raise and develop the profile of therapies and their use in this field.

I have found ‘m’ Technique to be beneficial in both palliative care and for rehabilitation work with the consistency of the pressure and repetition of strokes providing a very effective form of therapy. I have been able to show families how to give basic ‘m’ hand massage and they in turn have been able to treat their loved ones to great effect. The use of ‘m’ with those who are distressed and agitated has proved to be particularly beneficial.

I trained with Dr Buckle in July 2004 and qualified as an Instructor in July 2005.

I live in Colchester (Essex) and am happy and able to travel to teach ‘m’ technique.
