Cheryl
Pray-Sharar RN
Cheryl Pray-Sharar is a graduate of Mesa
Community College. She has been involved in nursing
since that time. She started out on a general
surgery floor as a Nurses Aide in 1980 and worked
her way
up to RN by 1984. She is currently working on a
General surgery/urology floor at Desert Samaritan
Hospital and uses relaxation techniques to help her
patients get better pain control. She was excited
to learn how aromatherapy could be used to decrease
pain and stress and increase patient
satisfaction.
For her certification, she did a small research
study on tension headaches in the work place. She
topically applied diluted Peppermint & Roman
chamomile oil and used the 'm' technique to their
face and head. Results varied from the headache
completely gone to headache lessening. She is
currently working on a research project to show how
aromatherapy can shorten a patient's post op
recovery period.
Cheryl became certified to teach R.J. Buckle
Associates' courses in February 2003 through
Banner's Integrative therapy at Desert Samaritan
Hospital, Mesa, Arizona
