Susan
Shields, MBA, RN, CNA, BC was called to a career in nursing
in 1989 after many years in management in the industrial world.
She obtained her BSN from Texas Christian University in 1991
and has been involved in oncology nursing ever since. She
currently is the Director of the Cancer Program at Harris
Methodist Fort Worth Hospital in Fort Worth, TX and is active
in the Oncology Nursing Society, the American College of Oncology
Administrators and the Society for Integrative Oncology. She
believes it is essential to complete the patient’s journey
to wellness using therapies that address the whole person,
respecting individuals’ preferences and their need to
actively participate in treatment. She is active in the development
of the Healing Arts Center at Harris Methodist Fort Worth. She
became Certified in Clinical Aromatherapy (CCAP) in 2005,
and as an instructor for R. J. Buckle Associates’ courses
in May 2005.
