A brief description of this edition:
This book is the first evidence-based text on aromatherapy. It draws from over one thousand published research studies, nearly two hundred pilot studies conducted by the author and her students, and five thousand case-studies, to describe the use of essential oils in clinical settings. The book is unique because each section has been reviewed by an expert.
The book is of relevance to managers, physicians, nurses, massage therapists, psychologists and other health professionals. The book draws from the first edition, Clinical Aromatherapy in Nursing, but is in essence a completely new book. It contains new sections on psychology, OB/GYN, psychiatry, the oral use of essential oils, chemistry, biosynthesis and gives a list of hospitals using aromatherapy. It contains charts for each clinical specialty. Highly recommended by physicians, microbiologists, university professors, nursing administrators and the executive director of one of the largest hospital groups in the USA as the foundational aromatherapy text
Some reviews on this edition:
"Jane Buckle has written the definitive guide to clinical aromatherapy; her comprehensive treatment of the subject from its history and biochemistry, to its myriad practical applications illuminates this therapeutic modality as no text has before. This book is now out of print.
Some Reviews of the previous edition:
"This practical book is an excellent place to start for nurses and other healthcare professionals who want to use aromatherapy as a complement to traditional medicine. This book is a hallmark for holistic nursing because it explains both the philosophy and the science and provides basic guidelines for the integration of aromatherapy into clinical practice."
- Barbara Dossey, RN, MS, HNC, FAAN
"This book shows the rich, diverse and challenging therapeutic potential of nursing aromatherapy both from the healing effects of the medicines as well as the healing effect on the carer-patient encounter, which can be brought by touch and a non-threatening approach."
- Dr. David Reilly
