Fiona Sims is a Registered Nurse with 40 years’ experience. She has worked in palliative care at Marie Curie Hospice West Midlands for almost 14 years. In this setting she has found ‘M’ Technique to be beneficial for relieving patient’s symptoms such as anxiety, insomnia, distress, shortness of breath. This gentle type of touch is suitable for frail people at end of life, it is so comforting and undemanding to receive. She has also taught family members to give ‘M’ technique to their relative, giving them something positive and helpful to do at a difficult time.

Fiona has taught Hands and Feet ‘ M’ Technique to colleagues and volunteers at the hospice and also on the Quietude Practitioner training at Emerson College, in Sussex – a course for those accompanying people on the journey of death and dying. https://emerson.org.uk/course/quietude-practitioner-training-2024/

She qualified as an ‘M’ technique Instructor in October 2023 and is available to deliver courses in the Midlands area.

Prior to working in hospice, Fiona worked at Park Attwood Clinic in Worcestershire, as an Anthroposophic Nurse, from this approach she has many years’ experience in Rhythmical Einreibung (RE), another gentle therapeutic touch technique. She is a Practitioner and teacher of Rhythmical Einreibung, delivering a Foundation Course at Emerson College, in Sussex. https://emerson.org.uk/course/rhythmical-einreibung/  She is also available to deliver taster sessions and workshops in this technique.

In addition, Fiona has a private practise seeing clients for both RE and ‘M’ Technique based at Elysia Therapy Centre in Stourbridge. This ranges from one off treatments for relaxation and wellbeing, to courses of supportive treatments for people with long-term health conditions or those undergoing treatment for cancer. https://www.elysiacentre.org/
