Linda-Anne O’Flaherty qualified as a Therapeutic Aromatherapist in 2002 and is registered with the Allied Health Professions Council of South Africa. She also studied Reiki and was initiated as a Reiki Master in 2003.
She worked as a volunteer Aromatherapist at the Bel Porto School in Cape Town for the Disabled for 2 years, where she massaged children with Down’s Syndrome, Cerebral Palsy and a number of other physical and mental disabilities. In 2004 she started working as a volunteer Aromatherapist at the Red Cross War Memorial Children’s Hospital in Cape Town. This is the largest dedicated pediatric hospital in Southern Africa. While she works mainly in the Burns Unit, she has also massaged patients in the ICU, oncology, renal, tracheotomy and medical wards.
In 2008 she learnt the ‘M’ Technique® with Dr Jane Buckle in Rotterdam. Since then she has been using the ‘M’ Technique with her patients in the hospital. She has demonstrated the ‘M’ Technique to some of her patient’s parents who have in turn been able to participate in their children’s healing rather than being passive onlookers. Linda-Anne plans to teach other volunteers, parents and medical staff at the Red Cross Children’s Hospital to become ‘M’ Technique practitioners so that many more children in the hospital will experience the benefits of this unique healing art.
